Arjun and Krishna were sitting when they saw a Brahmin asking for alms. Arjun out of concern gives him a bag of gold coins. Brahmin felt happy and left.
On his way back he was thinking of his own self, now he will not work. He has so much now.No need to work.
Meanwhile a thief saw this brahmin and snatched his bag of coins and ran away.
Brahmin got sad and again next day he went for asking alms.
Arjun again saw him and asked him abt the gold coins he gave him yesterday.
Brahmin told the story what had happened.
Arjun again gives him a precious stone. This time Brahmin was very careful and as soon as he reached home he hides it in a pot.
He lied down and think what he will do with the stone. He dozed off to sleep.
Meanwhile his wife takes the pot to river and and that precious stone fell into the river.
When Brahmin came to know about this he felt very sorry and sad.
Again next day he went asking for alms.
This time Arjuna asks his story and feels very sorry for him. He says that I think money is not there in your destiny.
Then Krishna gave him a coin.
Brahmin leaves.
Arjun asks Krishna why you have given only a coin. I gave him so much then also his poverty is not removed. What your single coin will do?
Krishna says…go follow him and see.
While going, Brahmin thinks as Arjun gave me so much and now Krishna gave me only a coin. What will I do with so less money.
As he was thinking he saw a fisherman catching fish.
Brahmin took pity on fish. He gives his coin to fisherman and buys the fish. He puts the fish in his ‘kamandal’ to take it to the river and save its life.
Brahmin saw that fish spitted out the same precious stone which he got from Arjun in his kamandal. He got very excited and started shouting ‘got it got it’.
The thief who stole his bag was going the same way. When he heard Brahmin shouting 'got it got it'. He thought Brahmin has recognized him and out of fear he has returned the bag of gold coins to him and asked him not to complain to the king.
Now Brahmin got his stone and gold coins back.
Arjun was seeing all this and asks Krishna about it.
Krishna says when you gave him coins and stone he was only thinking about himself. But with my coin he saved a life. If you think of others then god will take care of you automatically.
When we think of others and help others within our limit then we ourselves get benefited.
